ഇരുരാജ്യങ്ങളും തമ്മിലുള്ള സാമ്പത്തിക സഹകരണം വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനായി പ്രമുഖ സ്ലൊവാക്യന് ബിസിനസ്സ് പ്രമുഖരുമായും അദ്ദേഹം കൂടിക്കാഴ്ച നടത്തും. സ്ലൊവാക്യയുമായുള്ള ബന്ധം ആഴത്തിലാക്കാനും സഹകരണത്തിന്റെ പുതിയ മേഖലകള് തുറക്കാനും ഈ സന്ദര്ശനം സഹായിക്കുമെന്ന് ലാന്ഡിംഗിന് തൊട്ടുപിന്നാലെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ‘എക്സ്’ (ട്വിറ്റര്) പ്ലാറ്റ്ഫോമില് കുറിച്ചു. ഫ്രാന്സിലെ സന്ദര്ശനം പൂര്ത്തിയാക്കിയ ശേഷമാണ് മോദി സ്ലൊവാക്യയിലെത്തിയത്. ഫ്രാന്സില് വെച്ച് ഫ്രഞ്ച് പ്രസിഡന്റ് ഇമ്മാനുവല് മാക്രോണുമായി അദ്ദേഹം ഉഭയകക്ഷി ചര്ച്ചകള് നടത്തുകയും നൈസില് നടന്ന ‘ഭാരത് ഇന്നോവേറ്റ്സ്’ പരിപാടിയുടെ ഉദ്ഘാടനത്തില് പങ്കെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.
സ്ലൊവാക്യന് വിദേശകാര്യ-യൂറോപ്യന് കാര്യ മന്ത്രി യുരാജ് ബ്ലാങ്കര് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയെ വിമാനത്താവളത്തില് സ്വീകരിച്ചു. സ്ലൊവാക്യന് പാരമ്പര്യപ്രകാരം ആദരവിന്റെയും സൗഹൃദത്തിന്റെയും പ്രതീകമായി ‘അപ്പവും ഉപ്പും’ നല്കിയാണ് മോദിക്ക് അവിടെ പരമ്പരാഗത സ്വീകരണം നല്കിയതെന്ന് ഇന്ത്യന് വിദേശകാര്യ മന്ത്രാലയം അറിയിച്ചു. തന്റെ സന്ദര്ശനം ചരിത്രപരമാണെന്നും ഇരുരാജ്യങ്ങളും തമ്മില് വളര്ന്നുവരുന്ന ബന്ധത്തിന്റെ തെളിവാണിതെന്നും യാത്രയ്ക്ക് മുന്നോടിയായി മോദി വ്യക്തമാക്കിയിരുന്നു
സ്ലൊവാക്യന് നേതാക്കളുമായും ബിസിനസ്സ് പ്രതിനിധികളുമായും നടത്തുന്ന ചര്ച്ചകള് നിര്ണ്ണായക മേഖലകളിലെ സഹകരണം കൂടുതല് ശക്തമാക്കുമെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം ആത്മവിശ്വാസം പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു. 2025 ഏപ്രിലില് ഇന്ത്യന് രാഷ്ട്രപതി ദ്രൗപതി മുര്മു സ്ലൊവാക്യ സന്ദര്ശിച്ചിരുന്നു. തുടര്ന്ന് 2026 ഫെബ്രുവരിയില് ഇന്ത്യയില് നടന്ന ‘എഐ ഇംപാക്ട് സമ്മിറ്റില്’ പങ്കെടുക്കാന് സ്ലൊവാക്യന് പ്രസിഡന്റ് പെല്ലെഗ്രിനിയും എത്തിയിരുന്നു. ഈ ഉന്നതതല സന്ദര്ശനങ്ങളുടെ തുടര്ച്ചയായാണ് ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ യാത്രയെന്ന് വിദേശകാര്യ മന്ത്രാലയം വ്യക്തമാക്കി.
വ്യാപാരം, നിക്ഷേപം, ഓട്ടോമൊബൈല് നിര്മ്മാണം, റെയില്വേ ഉല്പ്പാദനം, വളര്ന്നുവരുന്ന അത്യാധുനിക സാങ്കേതികവിദ്യകള് എന്നീ മേഖലകളിലെ സഹകരണം വിപുലീകരിക്കുന്നതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് ഇരുരാജ്യങ്ങളും ചര്ച്ച ചെയ്യും. യൂറോപ്യന് യൂണിയനില് അംഗമായ സ്ലൊവാക്യയുമായുള്ള ബന്ധം ശക്തമാക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ യൂറോപ്യന് യൂണിയനുമായുള്ള ഇന്ത്യയുടെ പങ്കാളിത്തം കൂടുതല് മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്താനാകുമെന്നാണ് വിലയിരുത്തുന്നത്.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome in Bratislava on Sunday during his historic visit to Slovakia, the first by an Indian Prime Minister since the country’s independence in 1993.Upon his arrival, Prime Minister Modi was welcomed by Slovakia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Juraj Blanar. In keeping with Slovak tradition, he was accorded the customary bread-and-salt welcome, a centuries-old symbol of hospitality, respect and goodwill.The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), in a post on X, described the visit as a historic milestone in India-Slovakia relations and said it is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties while opening new avenues of cooperation between the two countries.At a hotel in Bratislava, the renowned Lucnica Ensemble performed the national song Vande Mataram in honour of the Prime Minister. The group had also rendered the Indian national anthem during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Slovakia in 2025.Speaking about the performance, a member of the ensemble said it was a memorable experience to perform before an Indian Prime Minister and described PM Modi as polite and appreciative. Another member, Eva, said she admired the kindness of Indian people and appreciated the opportunity to participate in the event.Prime Minister Modi also witnessed a spiritual musical performance by the Slovak group Mahadeva Kirtan Projekt. Marek Zilinec, founder of the ensemble, expressed gratitude to the Embassy of India in Bratislava for providing the opportunity to perform before the Prime Minister.Adding to the cultural welcome, the Prime Minister watched a traditional Slovak folk dance performance by Kopaniciarik, a children’s ensemble from the Myjava region.The traditional bread-and-salt ceremony holds special significance in Slovak culture. While bread symbolises prosperity and sustenance, salt represents friendship, value and protection. The custom is often reserved for distinguished guests and reflects the country’s tradition of warmly welcoming visitors.Members of the Indian diaspora gathered in large numbers to greet the Prime Minister in Bratislava. PM Modi interacted with members of the community and acknowledged their role in strengthening people-to-people ties between India and Slovakia.One member of the Indian community described the interaction as a memorable experience and said the Prime Minister took time to meet and engage with those present.Earlier, PM Modi posted on X that his visit to Slovakia would provide an opportunity to deepen bilateral relations and explore new areas of cooperation. He said he looked forward to productive discussions with Slovak President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico.The Prime Minister is visiting Slovakia at the invitation of Prime Minister Robert Fico. During the visit, he is scheduled to hold talks with Fico and meet President Pellegrini. Discussions are expected to focus on enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, innovation, automobile manufacturing, railway development and other strategic sectors.
